How articles are signed

Guides are published under the byline ITAntiques Editorial Team. That name is this organisation. We do not invent individual expert personas, and responsibility for published guides sits with ITAntiques.

How we research

  • Define the collector job-to-be-done (identify, date, authenticate, or plan a buying trip).
  • Pull workshop names, mark types and construction tests from museum catalogues, auction essays and hallmark references.
  • Prefer Italian and international specialist vocabulary used in the trade.
  • Link related ITAntiques guides so readers can move from overview to city or factory detail.

Sources we rely on

Typical source classes include civic assay and hallmark references; museum collection records; auction house lot essays; peer-reviewed or standard handbooks on maiolica, silver, glass and furniture; and primary mark tables where publicly documented. Individual articles should cite the specific references used whenever practical.

AI use

First drafts may be produced with AI assistance. The Editorial Team reviews structure, claims and clarity, and edits against sources. AI output is never published as an unchecked appraisal. See also the disclosure on our About page.

Corrections & feedback

To report a factual error, missing context or a broken link, use the contact form or email [email protected] and choose Corrections. Please include the article URL and a short note on what should change.

Dealer & marketplace notes

ITAntiques plans a future marketplace for Italian dealers selling to buyers abroad. Editorial content stays separate from paid listings; advertising or listing relationships, when they exist, should be disclosed on the relevant pages.
